In May, 1912, Mary Magdalen Vik joined thousands of other European émigrés as she journeyed to America seeking a better life. The author has woven the threads of her maternal grandmother Mary’s stories with her own vision of that time into a fictionalized history of her Hungarian family’s bloodline.
