by David E. Herlt
For an athletic Mary Koster Herlt, a series of complicated health issues would not impede her appetite for leading a vibrant, active life. After her miraculous recovery, she began a walking, biking, and tennis regimen and maintained a daily log of statistics on her activities. Husband, Dave, shares the details of their biking history and adventures together as they toured the roads from the Iowa cornfields to New York City streets before participating in a coast to coast Cross Canada biking event in 2004.
